The Conquistador Cup Regatta has been held in early March since 1993. It is a full weekend of sailing & fun. On Friday, the skipper’s meeting is followed by a welcome party for all participants. Saturday’s events consist of three or more races followed by a great dinner party. Then on Sunday, the sailors compete in a reverse-start distance race for the Conquistador Cup. The Sunday race is followed by an awards ceremony and an after-regatta to thank all participants and volunteers.
March 12-14, 2027.
The best way to fully enjoy this regatta is to race on Saturday and Sunday and take part in all the social activities. If you are new to racing and concerned about the close quarter maneuvers of the racing starts, no worries! Just join the Sunday Reverse Start event, which some refer to as “The Follow the Leader Race”. On Sunday, the boats will start one-at-a-time based on handicap. The slowest boats start first followed by the faster rated boats. This minimizes congestion and stress at the starting line. Sunday's race is a really fun race and is a great event for families and couples to participate in.
The Sunday race is a PHRF event and if you do not have a PHRF rating, we will give your boat a one-day handicap rating for that race. For those coming from out of town, we will attempt to find you a private dock. Boats that use trailers can launch and store at the Laishley Marina. The Isles Yacht Club (941-639-7551) may have some dock availability for reciprocal yacht clubs. Be sure to mention that you will be sailing in The Conquistador Cup Regatta.
