From Dennis Peck
Good
day Mates,
This has been another month for small boat sailing
for those willing to wait out the weather. To get
the best sailing sometimes you just have to be
ready and wait until the rain stops and then hit
the water. I on the other hand didn’t get on the
water as much as I wanted except for class days.
The Sailing Center is getting many requests for
sailing instruction and is scheduling several
classes this summer which usually results in new
members for PGSC.
August is to be another busy month with the Marina
Day Challenge Regatta on August 9th. This event
will take place as a result of many PGSC members
working with some of the sailing centers. Since I
must be at my Dad’s birthday gathering that day I
will not be able to be in two places. Thanks ahead
for making it work.
We also have the Isle Yacht Club’s summer program
where we will be helping with two sessions for
youth of the area.
One of the biggest events for the month for small
boat sailors will be the Florida Sunfish Kick-Off
Regatta on August 23rd & 24th. This is to be held
at the Sailing Center on Retta Esplande and is the
kick-off for the Florida Sunfish season. This is
the first of many Sunfish regattas across Florida
this year.
We aren’t leaving much time for sailors to say
there is nothing to do! Work in the regattas or
come sail with us, there is much for the big and
small boat sailors to do. Please contact us at
627-6650, 456-8542 or bdselah@bdsailing.com with
ideas and where you can help. We are especially
interested in assistance with operations of the
Small Boat Sailing Center.
Thanks!
Dennis
